NEAPOLITAN BAROQUE MANDOLINS

Neapolitan baroque mandolins are instruments developed through the 18th century, in southern Italy, in particular near Naples. They share with their modern version some important features, such as the bent top (?), movable bridge, tuning by fifths, and many more. However they also have many differences, for example a lighter stucture, a slightly shorter scale, a smaller extension of the fretboard, the use of tuning pegs, and others. Therefore the musical result is also very distinct from the modern mandolin.
